Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver finally concluded early Tuesday morning what everyone around him knew was obvious -- he could not justify keeping coach Jack Del Rio until the end of the season. Not with three home games remaining, including next week's Monday Night Football matchup with the San Diego Chargers, and most of all, not with the dark cloud of having an undeclared lame-duck coach running his team for another five weeks.

With the Jaguars having national television games coming up in two of their next three games, owner Wayne Weaver had little choice but to fire coach Jack Del Rio Tuesday. Weaver changed the subject. Now instead of the announcers focusing on Del Rio's status, they will be focusing on the future of the franchise and how Mel Tucker will do as an interim coach. With the Jaguars having no shot at a division title or a winning season and with the fan base turned off by all the losing, it was time to start the process of reenergizing the franchise.
