Monday, August 22, 2011

The Oakland Raiders selected Terrelle Pryor with a third-round pick in Monday’s NFL supplemental draft, just days after the league finally cleared Pryor.
Pryor generated a bit of a buzz at his pro day workout Saturday by running a 40 clocked at around 4.40 seconds.

Pryor generated a bit of a buzz at his pro day workout Saturday by running a 40 clocked at around 4.40 seconds. That apparently put him right in the Raiders’ wheelhouse — Oakland has made a habit of drafting players for their athleticism and speed, as much as for their overall game.

Per the NFL’s ruling last week, Pryor will not be eligible to play or practice for the first five weeks of the regular season, matching the suspension he would have faced had he returned to Ohio State for his senior season.

The Raiders currently sport Jason Campbell, Trent Edwards and Kyle Boller on their QB depth chart. Pryor figures to take one of those roster spots — likely Boller’s — as Oakland starts developing him.
