Joan Crawford (March 23, 1905 – May 10, 1977),born Lucille Fay LeSueur, was an American actress in film, television and theatre.Bette Davis, the iconic Hollywood picture star is on her way out, she’s sitting on the fence, “perched on the porch of paradise, she’ll be gone in a jiffy”. Her arch rival on the stage, Joan Crawford, both haunts her last moments and reminisces with her about their years in stardom and their hardships passed; marriages ending in divorce, broken families, the baggage that comes with fame and the overwhelming presence of the studio.This performance of Bette + Joan: The Final Curtain by Foursight Theatre brought to life the comedy and tragedy of this epic duo. Sarah Thom and Sarah Toogood depicted brilliant adversaries, pushing each other out of the limelight and performing over-the-top sequences so typical of the time. The pair also convinced the audience of the double-entendre which existed between these two women; a never-ending conflict married with genuine compassion and attachment to each other despite everything.
